Emails

Attachments

Attach files using base64 content or a public HTTPS URL.

How it works

Attach files using base64 content or a public HTTPS URL. Add an attachments array to a single email. Provide filename and base64 content, with optional content_type.

Example

json
{"attachments":[{"filename":"hello.txt","content":"SGVsbG8=","content_type":"text/plain"}]}

Things to know

For URL attachments, supply path instead of content. Only public HTTPS URLs are accepted; private addresses and HTTP URLs are rejected, including during up to three revalidated redirects. Base64 content totals at most 40 MiB; proxy limits and SES’s final encoded message limit may be lower. Invalid base64, unsupported SES extensions, and invalid MIME metadata are rejected. Batches cannot contain attachments.

Retrieve sent attachments

List sent attachments or retrieve one for metadata and a download URL signed for one hour. IDs remain stable; retention expiry or team removal revokes the download.
