Create a link
Any team member can share a sent or received email.
- Open the email from Emails → Sending or Receiving.
- Choose Share email from the ... menu.
- Under Link expires after, choose 1 hour, 6 hours, 24 hours, or 48 hours (the default).
- Click Generate link, then copy the Share link.
The link has the form SITE_URL/shared?token=.... Anyone who has it can view the email without signing in, until it expires.
Through the API, call POST /emails/{email_id}/share with a full-access key. Its optional expires_in accepts a duration such as 10m, 2 hours, or 1 day, up to 48 hours.
What the link shows
The shared page shows the subject, sender, To and Cc recipients, reply-to addresses, the send or receive time, the HTML and plain-text body, and the names, types and sizes of attachments. It never shows Bcc recipients, raw headers, or attachment downloads. The page is not indexed by search engines.
Things to know
- A link stops working when it expires or when the email's content is deleted after 30 days, whichever comes first. The page then says the link has expired or is invalid.
- Every generated link is separate; generate a new one to share for longer.
- The share token is not written to Logs: the response of the share request is redacted.
