Templates
Template versions
How a template's draft and published version relate.
How it works
A template has a draft you edit and, once published, one published version that sends use.
text
Edit draft → Publish → Published version replaced- Editing changes only the draft. The status badge stays Published and the button reads Publish changes until you publish again.
- Renaming a template or changing its alias does not create unpublished changes.
- Publish replaces the published version with the current draft. It needs HTML content.
- Revert to draft deletes the published version; the draft stays.
- Duplicate creates a new draft named
<name> copy, with its own alias.
Things to know
There is no version history: earlier published versions cannot be listed or restored. Keep template content in your own source control if you need that. Through the API, current_version_id identifies the current draft revision. It changes when the draft is edited and stays the same when you publish; has_unpublished_versions tells you whether the draft differs from the published version.
