Domains

DMARC

Publish a DMARC policy for your domain.

How it works

DMARC tells receiving servers what to do with mail that fails SPF or DKIM. It is optional, but it improves deliverability. Opensend suggests a monitoring record in the Recommended section of the domain's Records tab:

text
_dmarc.example.com TXT "v=DMARC1; p=none;"

Add it at your DNS provider if the domain has no DMARC policy yet.

Things to know

  • A domain can have only one DMARC record. If one already exists, keep it unless you mean to change your policy. Auto configure adds the DMARC record only when the domain has none, so it never replaces an existing policy.
  • p=none only monitors; it does not tell receivers to reject or quarantine failing mail. Tighten the policy once you have seen your reports.
  • To receive DMARC reports, add a reporting address (rua=) to the record yourself.
